CESNET

CESNET was founded in 1996 by Czech universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. CESNET undertakes research and development in the field of information and communication technologies, and develops the national multi-gigabit optical network CESNET2, designed for research and educational purposes. Its goal is also broadening of the public knowledge about the advanced networking topics.

CESNET is a long-time Czech academic network operator and participant of corresponding international projects. With its research activities and accomplishments, CESNET represents the Czech Republic in international projects, most notably the pan-European GÉANT network building project and grid projects (EGI.eu), and participates actively in their implementation.
